Does any of this sound familiar?

Motherhood can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re used to being capable, organised and in control.

If you find yourself:

  • Scouring the internet for information about pregnancy and babies to make sure you know everything

  • Making plans for every possible eventuality

  • Secretly worrying that you might not be cut out for motherhood

  • Thinking you should be more excited than you actually feel

  • Believing everyone else is coping better than you are

  • Constantly on-edge and unable to switch off

  • Wondering why you feel so anxious when you’re supposed to be happy

  • Packing and re-packing the hospital bag, obsessing over organising the drawers in the nursery

  • Worrying about postnatal depression

  • Wondering if you’re going to lose your identity when you become a mum

You don’t want to hear “oh you’ll be fine, that’s normal”. You want to feel understood, more confident and better able to cope.

The support you've been looking for

I offer integrated maternal care – a blend of mental health and doula support – for women navigating pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.

From antenatal preparation and birth support to emotional wellbeing and postnatal recovery, I combine over 20 years of mental health nursing experience with practical doula care, to provide calm consistent support that helps mothers feel safer, understood, more confident and better able to cope during one of life’s biggest transitions.

Through working with me, you will:

  • Feel more confident in your ability to cope with the challenges of pregnancy, birth and new parenthood

  • Have someone to answer your questions, helping you spend less time worrying and searching for reassurance online

  • Feel more prepared for birth and life with a baby, knowing what to expect and where to turn for support

  • Understand your emotional wellbeing and have practical strategies to manage anxiety, stress and overwhelm

  • Feel supported in making decisions that are right for you and your family

  • Feel less pressure to get everything "right" and more trust in your own judgement

  • Have a plan for protecting your mental health during pregnancy and after birth

  • Understand how to support your baby's emotional wellbeing and development from the very beginning

  • Feel more like yourself as you navigate the transition into motherhood

  • Enjoy pregnancy and early motherhood more, rather than spending it consumed by worry

A different kind of support

Mental health and maternity services are full of skilled, caring people, but years of pressure and underfunding mean that many women do not receive the continuity or personalised support they deserve.

Thresholds for specialist mental health care can be high. Midwife appointments can feel brief and rushed. You may not see the same person consistently throughout your pregnancy. And when you are already feeling anxious or vulnerable, having to repeatedly explain yourself can feel exhausting.

My support is different because there is no threshold you need to meet before you can work with me. You do not need a diagnosis, a referral or to wait until things feel unmanageable.

I take the time to get to know you properly: what matters to you, what you are worried about, how you usually cope and what your early warning signs might look like. This means I can provide consistent, reliable support and help you respond early if you begin to feel less like yourself.

The combination of mental health and doula support is central to what I offer. A doula can provide invaluable practical and emotional care, but may not have specialist mental health training. A therapist or mental health professional can support your emotional wellbeing, but they are unlikely to be alongside you during labour, helping you care for your baby or washing bottles while you rest.

My role brings these forms of support together in a way that is evidence-informed, compassionate and practical.

Who I work best with

I work primarily with thoughtful, professional women who want more than surface-level support.

Many of my clients are balancing demanding careers, high expectations and perfectionist tendencies while adjusting to the emotional reality of motherhood. I also work closely with neurodivergent mothers, second or third-time mums, and women who feel they are navigating pregnancy and postpartum without the “village” they expected.

My clients are not looking for rigid routines or pressure to “bounce back.” They want clarity, emotional safety, reassurance and support that feels genuinely human.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

“Emily was a fantastic doula and I'm so grateful to have met her when I did. She was kind and patient, but also thorough and prompt and overall a very reliable person. To someone like myself, who has ADHD, that reliability was like an anchor that I really needed. She never made me feel ashamed for finding things like organisation and time management difficult. She supported me instead. From the bottom of my heart, I recommend Emily as a doula to any family wanting support, whether it be simple or niche support of any kind. I will always remember Emily fondly and I wish her all the best in her future!”

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

“I didn't entirely know what to expect from a post-natal doula but Emily exceeded all potential expectations. She was reassuring, kind, helpful, and always felt like a safe person to turn to during the first terrifying month of being a new parent. I was able to share all my questions and worries with her and she handled each one with grace and knowledge. I felt fortified after each visit.”

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

“It takes a village to raise a child and the newborn days are so hard. Emily was such an important part of helping us adjust to being a family of four and helping me adjust in the postpartum period.”
